General functions

1. At the upazila level all kinds of development activities / projects formulation, implementation, evaluation etc.

2. Preparation of Upazila Development Plan on the basis of Union Development Plan.

3. Provide support and encouragement to the work of the Union Parishad.

4. To promote health and family planning and family welfare activities.

5. Environmental management work.

6. Training of chairmen, members and secretaries of union councils.

7. Implementation of government policies and programs in the upazila.

8. Supervise, control and coordinate the work of the officers of the transferred subjects under deputation.

9. Strengthen social and cultural activities.

10. Encourage employment growth activities.

11. Expansion and development of cooperative movement in the upazila.

12. To assist the district council in development activities.

13. Adoption and implementation of plans for all rural construction activities.

14. Intensification of agricultural activities to increase production.

15. Development of educational and vocational activities.

16. Livestock, fish farming and forest resource development.

17. Performing other functions specified by the government.
