In the face of the Talbari on the other side of Chalteedh (the current Gorai river), the Kushtia thana was located on the northwestern end of the town of Dakdah, and was shifted to the north-eastern part of the village of Mazmpur in order to safeguard the indigenous administration of the Nilbidrrow-North. The new police station is known as Kushtia, and it is here that the headquarter of the sub-divisional town is developed. Kushtia thana was established in Pabna under Rajshahi Division up to 1856, Kushtia subdivision in 1861, and in 1863 the subdivision of Nadia division of Nadia district was included.
